Sam Pope finds that ‘anything goes’ when it comes to choosing your perfect gown

Bridal fashion seasons normally have a theme — styles that are definitely de rigeur. But this Spring it seems that brides get to please themselves when it comes to choosing their dream dress.

“We need a celebrity wedding to get things going again — there just does not seem to be a common theme in wedding gowns at the moment!” said a spokesperson for bridal gown designers Kate Sherford.

Some dresses seem to have slimmed down a bit, with slender, elegant lines that skim the body rather than engulfing it. However, fairytale femininity will always be popular, and layers of gauzy organza turn any bride into a princess.

Strapless styles are still a hit, with glamorous bodices and A-line skirts going down a storm. Also popular are halterneck dresses, flattering for those with shapely shoulders and busts. Details on the dresses are kept simple, letting the beauty of the dress and, of course, the bride, speak for themselves.
While it may not be the norm lacking a particular style to aspire to, it gives you the freedom of choice to find the dress that suits you, not the season.
